Medical Assisting Education For a New Career by Michael Bustamante Those who are interested in the health care field may wish to seek a medical assisting education for a new career. Medical assistants are experts in providing clinical care to patients, as well as performing various routine office and clerical duties.

The requirements for medical workers will vary according to state and regional laws and regulations.

The primary function of medical assistants is to assist medical professionals in maintaining a smooth health care operation. Duties can encompass both the front office and the examination room areas. Medical assistants will perform various patient care duties, such as greeting patients and doing patient intakes, answering telephones, recording and updating medical records, and preparing insurance documents.

They may perform general correspondence, schedule appointments, perform hospital admissions, and take care of billing and accounting services.
